The Community
The community of Port Wakefield is typically made up of what you would expect to find in a country town. There is a strong mix of second and third local family generations combined with a broad mix of people from different cultural backgrounds and locations. There is a mix of agricultural, fishing, retail and factory orientated employees who make up the community. Generally, you will find it an easy-going laid-back atmosphere with a strong emphasis on sporting and community participation.
Residents will normally be involved in multiple clubs and organisations and will not only participate in the activities but will also have a co-ordinating or maintenance commitment. A town of such population (approx. 650) could not support the number of groups and organisations it has without residents being involved with a number of clubs and organisations.
